Redesigning MemberPress, the Best WordPress Membership Plugin

Redesigning MemberPress, the Best WordPress Membership Plugin

MemberPress is simply the best WordPress membership plugin. When we have clients who need a membership product, MemberPress is almost always the solution that we use to help the client achieve their goals. It has a flexibility and common-sense approach that makes it incredibly robust.

As we’ve mentioned previously, we’ve known Blair Williams, the owner of Caseproof and the company that makes MemberPress for several years. He’s a dedicated member of the WordPress community and a good friend. When Blair approached us early this year to collaborate on his rebranding efforts we jumped at the chance. We were doubly honored when he told us we were handling the flagship WordPress membership plugin.

Respecting the MemberPress brand

Since 2013 the MemberPress plugin has been improving the membership process for WordPress sites. We wanted to make sure that we respected the cache of the plugin while bringing the style up to date. As an additional goal, we wanted to make sure that the new identity worked along with the work we had already done for the Pretty Links plugin.

We once again relied on the amazing skills of Robert Nienhuis at Nien Studios to create a mark that encapsulated the feel we needed. Blair is a great communicator and had a good starting point for the design. Robert took that starting point and presented a solution that elevated the design. We have seldom seen a smoother process.

The Website

The new site design echoes the feel of the new logo. We’ve reimagined the color scheme and graphic elements to emphasize the changes to the brand. We also provided a type system that plays to the strength of the mark. WordPress theme development is one of our tentpole services.

We also rethought the templates for the site. Everything from the home page to the blog post template were redesigned with an eye towards providing information  quickly. MemberPress is a sophisticated WordPress membership plugin. The features that provide that sophistication need to be presented with the right amount of detail.

We’re seeing a great response to the new design and that’s equating to increased sales for the plugin.

Caseproof has a little bit more in store for the WordPress community and we can’t wait for you to see it.

As with most of the plugins we build, the RSS Icon Widget was built out of necessity. One of our clients wanted to have a link to their RSS feed in the sidebar on their site. The built-in WordPress text widget could have worked for us to drop in some HTML code. However, that wasn’t…
