WordPress Plugin Development
The flexible plugin architecture is one of the most powerful features of WordPress. With it we’re able to integrate with services, add intricate functionality, and extend your website in a limitless number of ways. If we’re adding custom functions to your site, there’s a good bet that we’re doing it through a plugin. WordPress plugin development is one of our favorite parts of the job.
We Write Plugins
There are two approaches to WordPress plugin development at Pixel Jar. We’re either extending an existing plugin to tackle that “one more thing” that you need your site to do or we’re developing an entirely new plugin to handle a specific task. We love to develop an entirely new plugin concept for a client. And when we’re extending an existing plugin we’re always careful to future-proof any changes we make. We don’t want to create a problem with updates to the existing functionality.
In addition, we actively develop plugins of our own that tackle specific business needs. Most of the time the ideas for these plugins comes out of a need that we discover for one of our clients. We can then take that idea and flesh out a fully featured plugin that can help thousands of users. Sometimes these efforts result in a premium plugin offering, like AdSanity. Alternately, we’ll release these plugins in the WordPress repository for the common good, like Simple Google Content Experiments.
Posts in WordPress Plugin Development
This category focuses on plugins in all their glory. Whether it’s something that we wrote custom for a client, information on one of our commercial plugins, or detailed information on one of the plugins that we like to leverage on our client builds, you’ll find it here. Occasionally, we’ll dig into a third party plugin that we really like to use and talk about its finer points. Plugins are a never-ending source of discussion, evaluation, and implementation.
