WordPress Community

One of the best parts about WordPress doesn’t come from the software. It comes from the vibrant WordPress Community to which we all contribute.

We love WordPress. It's been our platform of choice since 2007. We’ve even written a post about why we use WordPress. We’re very lucky to have a large and diverse WordPress Community here in Southern California. There are participants from San Diego up to Santa Clarita. We have access to four (or more) major WordCamps within driving range.

WordPress Meetups

Our local meetup meets a few times every month to focus on different topics, Pixel Jar organizes the developer night. We have made friends and hired employees after meeting people at these events. Helping others succeed and learn is hugely rewarding and is a unique feature of the WordPress space.

We also learn a ton by being involved in the community. Some of the smartest people we know are involved with the open-source project. Meeting and discussing new techniques and tools keeps us sharp for our own clients.

WordCamp Orange County

WordCamp Orange County has an extra special place in our hearts. Our founders, Brandon and Jeff were the first lead organizers of WordCamp Orange County starting in 2010. Along with Robert Nienhuis of Nien Studios, they built the local WordCamp into a solid annual event and have led or been on the organizing team ever since.

And More

There are even more ways that we stay involved in the community virtually, from participating in the OC WordPress Facebook group to the occasional appearance on a WordPress podcast. There is a vibrant community around WordPress and we’re happy to be a part of it.

After all, communities do offer…

WP Engine – Community Done Right

At Pixel Jar, we’ve been active in the WordPress community for years. We get genuine joy and satisfaction in taking part and giving back to like-minded developers and the up-and-coming generation.  As much as we set out to inspire those we come in contact with, the reverse is also true. We often leave events, conferences,…

The Future of WordPress

For the first time in recent years, there are some questions about the future of WordPress. In June of 2022 there was a decline in the percentage of websites that were powered by WordPress. Is this the end of WordPress’ dominance of the website market? Should we abandon the platform for greener pastures? Probably not.…
